CIVIL SURVEYING SITE DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENTAL ELECTRICAL MECHANICAL
Project Description
Carteret Health Care, formerly Carteret General Hospital, expansion adds approximately 112,000 square feet which includes a three-story pavilion housing the new main entrance and additional floors above the existing emergency department wing. Stroud Engineering performed the design and permitting for the parking facilities, storm drainage and utilities created by the expansion. The construction of the new pavilion required the demolition of existing parking areas and rerouting of existing utilities including storm piping, domestic, and fire line services.
The expansion required additional parking to meet the parking ordinance for the Town of Morehead City. This was accomplished with the design of two additional parking lots, one located on the main campus and the other on West Campus, near Bald Avenue. Permeable pavement was permitted by NCDENR and located on West Campus and within the main campus employee lot to maintain the overall existing built upon area for the project. This avoided utilizing valuable vacant real estate for other types of best management practices within the boundary. The installation of the permeable pavement was completed October 2014. The Town also required sidewalks be constructed where the property abuts a public right of way which was designed and approved by both NCDOT and the Town.
